Built around your project

The finish is visible. The preparation is what makes it last.

HDZ installs tile for floors, backsplashes, showers, tub surrounds, walls and commercial interiors. We plan substrate preparation, waterproofing, layout, movement joints, grout and transitions before the first tile is set.

Tile performance depends on the complete assembly beneath it. Flatness, drainage, waterproofing, expansion accommodation and setting materials are as important as the tile itself. Clients who understand the system can evaluate quality beyond surface appearance.

What we provide

Complete tile installation service—from planning through installation.

01

Layout & material review

Confirm tile size, pattern, orientation, grout joint, focal lines and edge treatment.

02

Substrate preparation

Evaluate flatness, stability, moisture conditions and corrections required before setting.

03

Showers & wet areas

Coordinate waterproofing, slope, drains, niches, benches, curbs and wall transitions.

04

Floors & walls

Install tile in kitchens, baths, entries, living areas and feature applications.

05

Backsplashes

Plan outlets, corners, terminations, patterns and relationships to counters and cabinets.

06

Commercial tile

Durable floor and wall systems for retail, office, hospitality and professional spaces.

For homeowners

Tile can protect wet and high-use areas while shaping the character of a room. Proper preparation is essential to avoid cracking, leakage and uneven results.

  • Choose slip resistance and cleaning needs appropriate to each room.
  • Plan patterns and cuts around focal points, niches and visible edges.
  • Understand grout color, joint width and maintenance expectations.
  • Confirm waterproofing—not tile alone—protects shower assemblies.

For commercial clients

Commercial tile must address higher traffic, cleaning cycles, downtime, movement and safety requirements.

  • Match tile rating, finish and grout system to traffic and maintenance.
  • Coordinate transitions, movement joints and substrate conditions.
  • Plan work zones and cure times around business operations.
  • Confirm accessibility, drainage and slip considerations with the project team.

Important to know

Better information creates better expectations.

Tile and grout are not the waterproofing system. In wet areas, the assembly must manage water behind the visible finish. On floors, substrate movement and flatness strongly influence the result.

Is grout waterproof?

Standard grout is not a waterproofing membrane. Wet areas require a properly detailed waterproofing system behind or beneath the tile.

Why do large tiles need flatter surfaces?

Large-format tile bridges more area, so small substrate variations can create lippage and poor contact. Preparation matters.

Can tile go over existing tile?

Sometimes, after evaluating bond, flatness, height, movement and moisture. Removal may still be the better approach.

What are movement joints?

They allow the tile assembly to accommodate building and temperature movement, helping reduce cracking or tenting.
